Shopping in Hong Kong: Up your Street Cred

Take some fashion inspiration from your favourite K-Pop stars and get clad in “blinged” up caps and high-cut sneakers. With emerging brands like Neighborhood, Hood By Street, Stussy, Obey, Huf, and more, street style is a trend that is fast gaining popularity among youths all over the world. Not only are these brands hard to find in Singapore, Hong Kong is also often selected for exclusive brand collaborations and limited edition fashion lines.

Here are four of our favourite stores:

  • 8Five2
Launched in 1999, 8Five2 was one of the first local authentic skateboard and street fashion stores to open in Hong Kong. They carry both popular and underground labels like Primitive, Know1ledge, Nike SB, Vans, and Spitfire. In addition, the shop’s interior is furnished with luxe marble flooring and glass bench displays.
  • Juice
When it comes to high end streetwear, you can’t go wrong at JUICE. Established in 2003 and located at Causeway Bay, this store carries a wide selection of contemporary streetwear and sneaker brands including Adidas, Bleu de Paname, Buscemi, Converse, Hood by Air, and more.
  • Loading Store
This store carries indie brands from California, New York, and the U.K., such as Good Worth & Co., Doom sayers, Mishka, Only NY, and more. Offering colourful sneakers, caps, hoodies, and sweatshirts, this is a great choice for women on the hunt for chic streetwear apparel.
HOODS is the boutique Hong Kong outpost of Japanese streetwear brand NEIGHBORHOOD, which was born in Tokyo’s Harajuku district in 1994. The label was originally inspired by motorcycle culture, but nowadays its designs tend toward sleek, modern sportswear. Expect to find cool tees, jeans, caps, beanies, and sweatshirts, as well as footwear by WTAPS.
